Wendi reported on the play day at the Toby Keith Center. Wendi and Tom attended and they had one boy participate. Has talked to Procure and they can take anything we have. Wendi made “Tags of Hope” and brought templates of the tags to share.

Librarian –  Jane Linn

Jane reports the new book on wire jewelry has arrived and we now have 2 books on wire jewelry in the Library.

Announcements:

Angela reported we have received a date for demonstration of polymer clay at the State Fair – September 17.  The Guild sponsors the contest for polymer clay. Members were encouraged to sign up for entry of their artwork into the different categories. Jane suggested we add a category for Bottles of Hope for 2018 as it is too late to add for this year.

Minutes for May 13, 2017

14 Members attended the meeting.

Show and Tell consisted of several Bottles of Hope.

The Program was led by member Betty Bolerjack who shared technique for twisted wire for use in jewelry making.

Jane Linn, VP,  shared the future Program schedule:

  • Penni Jo and Jane will teach in June
  • Chris Crossland and Karen Humphreys will teach in July
  • Wendy McKinnon will teach in August

Angela Mabray gave the Treasurer’s report.  We currently have 30 paid members. The retreat came out in the black.

Wendy McKinnon, Bottle of Hope Coordinator, reported she has contacted Procure regarding providing Bottles of Hope and they are interested.  She has scheduled a Play with Clay with the children at the Toby Keith Center for Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 2 pm.  Everyone was invited to participate.

Jane Linn, Librarian, reported this is the month to buy a book.  It was moved by Angel and seconded by Wendy to purchase the Complete Guide to Making Wire Jewelry.

Old Business:

Retreat 2017 – Tom is currently reviewing the surveys.  Stated there are some issues we will need to address.  Need to begin planning now for next year and identify whom we would like as a guest artist.  Members were requested to be thinking about this for the discussion.

New Business:

  • Discussed having an all day class in October and it was suggested we see if Ginger Davis might be available for this.
  • Angela M. shared the Thank You card the Guild received from the Mustang Library for the Polymer Clay display at the Library in March.

Next drawing will be in June: Penni Jo, Laura and Angel won the last drawing.

Next Inchie swap will be in July with a Summer theme.

Show and Tell:

Bottles of Hope and Tom shared he is participating in a challenge at Katers Acre by making a Bottle of Hope weekly. Pictures are posted online.

Program:

Almond Eastland taught our class today on Mini Succulents.

Business Meeting

Officer/Volunteer Reports:

Secretary: Approval of January 2017 meeting minutes. Minutes were approved after motion by Wendi and Katherine seconded.

Vice-President: Jane gave report on upcoming meetings and teachers

  • Treasurer: Angela gave an update on the current balance. We currently have 24 paid members.

Bottles of Hope Coordinator: Wendi McKinnon is now the coordinator. Wendi reported she visited the Toby Keith Center and that it is a very nice facility.

Librarian: Jane Linn – reported the new book on wire working approved at the January meeting is now in the library.

Webmaster: Myra Cleveland – reports the retreat registration is now open.

Photographer: Tom Gibson – Tom continues to upload pictures of projects on the website.

Old Business:

Retreat – 25 have already registered. 19 have registered for both of the Klew classes. There are only 2 spots left in the Translucent class and 5 in the other class. Connie said she will provide salt scrub for the sinks again. Tom reported progress in sponsors.

New Business:

Discussed having an all-day class. If anyone would like to have a certain teacher for this let Angela know and give her the contact information.

Announcements:

Connie has greeting cards. If you know of any members who are ill, let Connie know.

Next drawing will be in March. Laura and Tom brought gift bags in January. The January winners were Connie and Angela.

Next inchie swap will be at the Retreat. Theme is Spring

Show and Tell

A lot of interesting goodies went around today. The images are posted on our Facebook and Yahoo pages.

Program

Katherine taught our class today, a face and leaves project. She provided a face and we provided a leafy home for it. Lots of beautiful and colorful designs were created.

Old Business

Tom reported that the cost of each of Klew’s classes will be:

  • $45.00 for each single class
  • $80.00 for both classes when signed up together.

New Business

PolymerCAFE is closing their doors. Perhaps we could write to them to see if we can have some for retreat or if we can buy back issues.

Minutes for December 2016 Meeting

There were 10 members at our December 10, 2016 meeting. For Show and Tell, everyone showed their dirty Santa gifts to exchange. Check out pictures on the guild’s Facebook page.

Katharine will be teaching our January meeting. Almond will be teaching in February. 

Inchies will be swapped in January meeting with a Winter theme.

In the business meeting Angel motioned to approve the November 2016 minutes. Laura seconded the motion. 

NEW BUSINESS

Retreat in April is being planned. Karen Lewis will be teaching.  Keep checking the website for classes.

Shirley agreed to contact magazines for publishing events.

Bring bags for drawing if you won before.

Our next regular meeting will be January 14, 2017, 1:30 pm at the Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center at the OKC Fairgrounds.

There were 11 members at our November  12, 2016 meeting.  For Show and Tell we had flashbacks, bottles of hope and State Fair entries. Check out pictures on the guild’s Facebook page.  

Katharine will be teaching our January meeting.

Inches will be swapped four times a year.  Next time will be in January meeting with a Winter theme.

OLD BUSINESS

In the business meeting Penni Jo motioned to approve the September 2016 minutes. Angela seconded and the motion passed.

Bottles of Hope will be going to the OK Kids Korral at the Toby Keith Foundation. You can pick up bottles at meetings.

Paper boxes of different shapes were shown. If interested contact Penni Jo.

NEW BUSINESS

Retreat in April is being planned. Karen Lewis (KLEW) will be teaching.

Shirley agreed to contact magazines for publishing events.

Our next regular meeting will be December 10, 2016, 1:30 pm at the Oklahoma Contemporary Art Center on the OKC Fairgrounds.

December meeting will be our Christmas Party. Bring a gift you would like for Dirty Santa (no gag gifts).

There were 14 members at our October 8, 2016 meeting.  For Show and Tell there were bottles of hope and State Fair entries.  Check out pictures on the guild’s Facebook page.

Bottles of Hope are in high demand.  12 bottles are needed a month.  Connie and Angel will decide on a plan for future bottles.

New Business

Deb Hart Workshop will be on Saturday, October 29th, from 9:30 to 4:30 in our usual room at the Contemporary Arts Center on the fairgrounds.  There’s still time to sign up!  Only $50 and includes lunch.

Retreat in April is already being planned.  Karen Lewis classes are being decided.

Our next regular meeting will be November 12, 2016, 1:30 pm at the Oklahoma Contemporary Art Center on the OKC Fairgrounds.

December meeting will be our Christmas Party.
