  • by

🌸 Create a Pansy Cane! 🌸

Join us as Tom teaches the beautiful art of creating Pansy Canes! This is a fantastic opportunity to learn how to craft intricate canes that can be used for various polymer clay projects.

What You'll Learn
  • The basics of cane making
  • Techniques to create stylized pansy petals and centers
  • How to assemble and reduce your cane

Important!

Please prepare Skinner Blends ahead to save time! Directions below.
Tools:
  • Work surface
  • Pasta machine or roller,
  • Clay blade(s) or Exacto knife
Clay Needed:

Any color combination can be used.  Pansies come in so many color variations that it may be hard to choose. I have found them in Bronze, Copper, Crimson, White with fringe of color around the edges and of course countless shades of Purple and Blue.

I used the following colors for the primary flower colors.

1. White
2. Purple
3. Blue
4. Yellow
5. Plus, White Translucent or White to wrap the completed cane, a small amount of Black or a very dark contrasting color for veins, and a small amount of Yellow (or a light color for the flower center).

Skinner Blends (prepare ahead of time):

Please try to have the Skinner blends made ahead of the meeting to save time.

I would suggest using clay in the following color combinations and proportions:

Blend one        colors 1, and 2              (1/4 block each)

Blend two        colors 2, 3 and 1           (1/8 block each)

Blend three      colors 3, 2, 1 and 4       (1/8 block each)

You can use any colors you want for your pansy just assign the colors numbers and follow the proportion above.
